A little too syrupy sweet
I listened to this roughly ten years ago. I liked the main character Karou but didn't like the perfection of the male angel thing she fell in love with. I vaguely remember a diabetes-inducing love story. I disliked the magic system, but can't, at this remove, really remember why. (view spoiler) I apparently did not go on to the second book in the series, Days of Blood & Starlight, since it is not in my audible library. (Daughter of Smoke & Bone is.) That probably means I was unhappy with this, the first book.
