Well, that was brutal.
Undercover is my first experience of Tamsyn Muir outside the Locked Tomb. It was familiar and not. It's deep-biting horror. That works well in this short format -- you never get to know anyone well enough to love them. And yet, just like the books of the Locked Tomb, Undercover is a unique love story, in its own ghoulish way. But not for the reader. I did not fall in love with Amy or Lucille, the way I did Gideon, Harrow, and Nona.
Undercover is perfect for what it is -- a brief midnight snack to make you crave a mug of hot chocolate and a warm bed.
